The blood sugar level shows the amount of sugar or glucose present in your blood. Glucose is actually the main type of sugar found in the blood and is the body’s main energy source.

High blood sugar, also known as hyperglycemia, is a condition resulting from the body’s inability to process glucose properly. If the condition persists for a longer period of time, it may lead to long-term complications and serious damage to different body parts, including the following:

Having to deal with high blood pressure and its symptoms is not an easy task. Fortunately, there are many ways to help you prevent any problems with blood sugar. One way is by consuming low glycemic foods, which will help lower the levels of sugar in your blood. By regular consumption of low glycemic index (GI) foods, you will keep your blood sugar in check.

Examples of low GI foods include one cup of walnuts, one cup of broccoli, one egg, or one turkey sausage.
