Not being able to breathe easily is definitely one of the worst symptoms of being sick. While there are many pharmaceutical products that aim at clearing your nose stuffiness, most of them commonly have unwanted side effects. For this reason, we suggest that you stop using any conventional drugs and try to solve this issue with the following shower disks instead.
Shower Disks Recipe
Here’s how to prepare them:
- 5 cups baking soda (360 grams);
- 2 tablespoons arrowroot powder or cornstarch powder;
- 2 tablespoons and 1 teaspoon of water;
- ¾ teaspoons of eucalyptus essential oil (120 drops);
- ½ teaspoon of peppermint essential oil (80 drops)
- airtight storage container;
- small glass bowl;
- silicone mold or muffin tin
First, add the baking soda and the essential oils to a glass bowl, and mix them well. Using a fork try to dissolve any lumps from the baking soda, as well as to blend the essential oils thoroughly.
Then, add the water to this mixture and stir everything well either manually or using a fork.
Finally, put the mixture into silicone molds or a muffin tray, and allow it to dry completely overnight. The following morning, simply pop your shower disks out of the molds, and you can use them right away.
Keep your shower disks in an airtight container.
Do not reduce the amount of essential oils if you want these shower disks to work properly! Even though they have a higher content of essential oils, they are completely safe since they won’t be applied directly on your skin.
How to use them:
Put a shower disk in the shower, making sure it’s far enough from the water so that it doesn’t hit it directly. By placing it either on the soap dish or on the edge of your bathtub, the disk will be closer to your nose and you will experience its benefits more efficiently. Also, you will prevent the effort you put in making your shower disks to simply go down the drain in a matter of seconds.
Health Benefits of the Ingredients
Peppermint oil is very refreshing, energizing and rejuvenating, and just a whiff of it can give you a boost of energy. It helps to prevent and treat common colds due to its powerful antibacterial and antiviral properties. Owing to its high menthol content, it also has the ability to perfectly clear up your sinuses.
Just like peppermint, eucalyptus oil is also rich in menthol and has the ability to clear the nasal passages up. It is a natural antiviral, antifungal, antibacterial, antimicrobial, and anti-inflammatory. That is why it is used for various respiratory problems such as asthma, bronchitis, coughs, congestion, and colds.
Baking soda gives your shower disks sustenance, while arrowroot powder allows them to dry hard.
These shower disks are not meant to be used only in case of colds and congestion. You can use them whenever you like to simply refresh and provide yourself with a great boost of energy.
